Excellence in EMS Education Award

The purpose of the Mundy-Segars Excellence in EMS Education Award is to recognize and honor individuals, programs, or initiatives that demonstrate exceptional dedication, innovation, and impact in supporting EMS students within Region 10. This award honors those who have shown exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication to enhancing the knowledge, skills, and abilities of EMS students and professionals. This recognition highlights the importance of effective education in shaping competent and compassionate EMS providers who can make a meaningful difference in the communities they serve. Through this award, we aim to inspire continued efforts in advancing education practices within EMS education programs and celebrate those who make a lasting difference in the lives of students and providers. Jack Mundy and Bryan Segars both taught within Region 10 and served the community as Paramedics. During their time as EMS Educators, they are responsible for teaching and mentoring hundreds of students, providing them with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience necessary to become competent EMS providers.

Award Recipients

CRITERIA

Consideration should be given to the following criteria:

  • Outstanding contribution to the development, implementation, and delivery of EMS Education in Northeast Georgia

  • Nominee’s role in improving, expanding, or enhancing EMS education in their community or Region

  • Nominee should be a licensed EMS Provider for at least 2 years and be a training officer, licensed instructor, or field training officer. Special considerations will be made for nominees that fall under organizations, public officials, other health care providers, or other Northeast Georgia residents.

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION

Complete the nomination form describing, in narrative form, why you believe the Nominee (health professional, public official, businessperson, volunteer, or other Northeast Georgia resident) or organization (civic, church, school, business, etc.) should receive the Mundy-Segars Segars Excellence in EMS Education Award.

Submission of no more than five pages of supporting documentation is encouraged.  Examples would include newspaper articles, commendations, award certificates, published announcements of promotion, leadership positions in organizations, community involvement, public education, continuing education, etc. 

All narrative information and documentation should be attached to this form. 

SELECTION

An anonymous committee will be appointed to review the nominations and make the final selection.  The presentation will be made by the Northeast Georgia Region 10 EMS Director’s Association.
