Farris T. Johnson Special Achievement Award

The purpose of the Farris T. Johnson, Jr., M.D. EMS Special Achievement Award is to recognize and encourage outstanding achievement and service to the Emergency Medical Services System in Northeast Georgia. After graduation from medical school, Dr. Johnson, Jr. served as an Air Force physician prior to returning to his hometown of Athens to serve as an Emergency Physician and Family Practice Physician. During his four-decade tenure with Emergency Services, Dr. Johnson supported and motivated EMS professionals through his voluntary service as both a local and regional EMS Medical Director and Educator, a Mentor, and an active member of the Northeast Georgia Region 10 EMS Council.

CRITERIA

Consideration should be given ot the following criteria:

  • Outstanding contribution to the development, implementation, and delivery of EMS in Northeast Georgia

  • Demonstrated leadership and personal commitment to the achievement of excellence in EMS programs

  • Nominee's role in improving, expanding, or enhancing the EMS system in their community or Region

  • Nominee's positive efforts or involvement in activities to strengthen public awareness and support EMS

SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION

Complete the nomination form describing, in narrative form, why you believe the Nominee (health professional, public official, businessperson, volunteer, or other Northeast Georgia resident) or organization (civic, church, school, business, etc.) should receive the Farris T. Johnson, Jr., M.D. EMS Special Achievement Award.

SELECTION

An anonymous committee will be appointed to review the nominations and make the final selection.  The presentation will be made by the Northeast Georgia Region 10 EMS Director’s Association.
