John E. Steed Memorial Award

The purpose of the JOHN E. STEED MEMORIAL AWARD is to acknowledge an individual in REGION 10 for their outstanding contribution to the development and/or enhancement of the delivery of pre-hospital emergency medical care. This award is named in memory of John E. Steed, a Paramedic (P00706) with Barrow County EMS, who was killed at the age of 30 while responding to an ambulance call. The recipient of this award should typify the high ideals, irreproachable character, and extreme unselfish dedication to EMS, which was so typical of John, and which makes them one of Northeast Georgia’s most outstanding EMS providers.

CRITERIA

Consideration should be given to the following criteria:

  • Outstanding pre-hospital patient care delivery

  • Outstanding contribution to the development, implementation, and delivery of emergency medical services in Northeast Georgia Region 10

  • Demonstrates leadership and personal commitment to the achievement of excellence in EMS programs

  • Nominee's role in causing EMS in their community or Region 10 to be improved, expanded, or otherwise enhanced

  • Nominee's efforts or involvement in activities to strengthen public awareness and support of EMS
